Very easy to set up and didn't even read the directions. Took maybe 7-10 minutes at most. The temp out was 100 with high humidity. This shade is pretty much the only reason we where able to enjoy the beach on our vacation. I was a little worried about the wind gusts, but no problem. This has room for two with beach chairs. Our daughter 5 even enjoyed it a few times while not playing in the sand. One thing of note, it really depends on the sun angle to the amount of shade you will get. We were able to get more shade as the afternoon sun was hitting the back window side more. If the sun is shinning at you (facing the opening) then this isn't going to help much. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. I would recommend for someone looking for a little shade at the beach rather then screwing with an umbrella. Good luck. 5 minutes to set up   July 23, 2010 Mark the shark The sleeves you slide the pole into to set the tent up are made of some cheap mesh that tore as we were sliding the pole into it on our 2nd use. Now every time we use it we have to lay across the tent and make sure teh pole in that sleeve doesn't push out of the growing hole. We camp a lot and use lots of different tents. We bought this for an open beach shelter. I found it takes a long time to set up for only 34 poles and the poles must be pushed gingerly or they will tear right through the sleeves. Otherwise its a great large roomy shelter that if you use the stay lines, it will probably stay up in a moderate wind (as long as the sand is not too soft). My wife will not use it because it takes too long to set up. Great beach tent!   July 22, 2010 HappyVTMom We recently bought this beach tent to take with us to Cape Cod. My husband was initially skeptical that it would be too large and cumbersome to set up, but it was perfect! The instructions are clearly marked on the inside of the carry bag and it take about 5 - 10 minutes to set up and break down (literally). We have a 15-month old, so I wanted a nice shaded area where he could play and take naps but also had enough room inside for us to hang out with him. I read some reviews about the stakes not staying in the sand. We used both the sand bags and the stakes and had no problems at all... and, it was very windy a couple days that we were there. I highly recommend this item. Very portable with a simple, yet functional design. Impressive   July 19, 2010 Chris I bought this beach shade for a week at the beach and it did not disappoint. I can't imagine going to the beach without it now (or something else like it.) Very great value, as the unit is well made for the price. The first assembly will be a little tough unless you are familiar with these types of tents, but the second is much easier. The third you're a pro (under 10 minutes). I recommend trying in your yard for the first time instead of on the beach. My only complaint is that the bag is very small. You likely will not get it zipped back up at the beach, but close enough to carry. Back on firm land it IS possible to get it all back in there, but difficult. Comments about wind, hey you can't fault the tent for wind. When you put up a sail like this in wind, it's going to catch! I did not have heavy wind so the stakes held with no problem at all (loose beach sand.) Always keep at least one corner staked on take down to make it easier. Tired of sunburn?   July 18, 2010 Pierre Baillargeon After one trip to the beach with the Coleman Beach Shade, I find that I am quite happy with the product. The Beach Shade provided quite a large area of comfortable shade, more than enough to lie down completely and not have any sun inside. Most of the salient points have been covered by other reviewers, but I would strongly suggest setting the Beach Shade up at home at least once before taking it out for first time use for two reasons which I learned today when I did not do so: 1) I didn't realize there was a cardboard box and miscellaneous packing materials inside the green carrying case, I should have opened this first and discarded the box and rubber bands which were used to hold the support rods together. 2) The instructions are adequate, however if you haven't set the beach shade up before and you're doing it alone, you're going to spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to set it up. Not fun when the sun is beating down on you and the sand is quite hot. If you do a dry run at home first, you should be able to set this up in about 5 minutes when you arrive at the beach. Last but not least, the carrying bag is a bit of a tight fit. It would be nice if they provided a bigger bag so you wouldn't have to spend as much time trying to fold and stuff the Beach Shade back into the carrying bag (again, it fits, but time spent trying to stuff the bag is time spent baking in the sun).
